Expectations of what you need to know for the Chapter 6 Test
Probability - Chapter 6
Probability Rules - pg. 342 & 343
Know what a Sample Space is
Know how to solve problems such as 6.21, 6.23, 6.26
Know the multiplication rule for independent events
Know the P(at least 1) + P(none) = 1 ... Know how to solve problems of "at least 1"
Know how to do problem b from the chapter 2 test, this is the one problem I didn't have you do.
Know general probability rules - pgs 361 & 362
Be familiar with Venn Diagrams
Know the general multiplication rule for any two events and the conditional probability formula - pgs 368 & 369
Know how to construct and properly label tree diagrams with the correct notation...
Know how to solve problems involving Bayes' Rule - problems 6.64 & 6.65
Know that if A and B are independent, the P(B|A) = P(B)
Make sure you can properly use probability notation... you will need this to do well on the exam.
*** Also, be prepared to apply probability rules to problems that derive probabilities from questions pertaining to the normal distribution. In short, know how to do your basic problems pertaining to the normal distribution.
Chapter 5
Know how to eliminate bias from a sample or survey using a table of random digits
